Our cover is a black and white copy of a watercolor by Peggy Godfrey of the home of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Markarian at 826 Longmeadow Street. It was built by Stephen Colton who served several terms as a Longmeadow Selectman.

This Carpenter Gothic Revival Conage is in the style of Andrew Jackson Downing. The lacy woodwork, or gingerbread, reflects the 19th century love of ornamentation and pride in craftsmanship.

In 1919, Warner Buxton of the Buxton Leather Company purchased the house which was built by his wife's great uncle, Stephen Colton.
