Historic Homes of Longmeadow
951 Longmeadow Street (#59 The
Captain David Burt House -1725)
One of the oldest houses in Longmeadow,
it was built in 1725 by Captain David Burt. The east wing was
added in the early nineteenth century. The house was originally
a four room center chimney farm house. Because of its construction,
exterior lines and low ceilings, it is considered to be one of
Longmeadow's oldest houses. In the mid-1800's, fire destroyed
the center chimney. At that time the chimney was removed and
a staircase was built in its place.
